month: February 2009

This was the third annual Brides Bingo held at Northgate on Feburary 26, 2009.  The rain certainly didn’t dampen anyone’s spirits.  They came out in bunches to play Bingo.

There were some pretty serious players

Some rather colorful players

We were there for our third Brides Bingo.

Heather won our free wedding package, but because she already has a great wedding photography studio booked we converted her package into 10 free hours of photography for any kind of session she wants between now and December 31, 2010……shown here with her mom and grandmother.

Of course we have a slide show. Click to view.

Do not give candy, Diet Rite soda,  Puffs, nor money……..

Please call Studio D Photography, and we will come and claim him!

Actually this is a dear dear friend, I love very much.  We been friends more than 10 years, and until recently he lived here.  His job took him to another part of the country.  So to my surprise he wound up on my doorstep 3 days ago telling me in a phone call that we was downstairs at my door.

He hates his piccie being taken. Absolutly forbids it, but I did get one!  And you can bet I am gong to hear about posting it on my blog!!!!

Never trust a redhead with a camera!!!!  hahahahaha! Yes, I am so aware of pay back being a very bad thing!

I will be sad when he leaves, but there is always the next time one of us takes off on a road trip and winds up at the other’s door.

May God bless you abundantly, my friend.  You have been missed more than I could ever express in words.

I am such a sucker for a guy who flashes me a million dollar smile.   When they booked me for their 10/10/09 wedding he asked if I would do pictures in the snow because they both love it when it snows.  Now you have to know I am the original hothouse flower. I moved here from Hawaii, and I just endure Winter.  BUT he gave me this cute smile and I heard myself saying, “Sure!  Not a problem!”  We didn’t have snow until this past Friday and Saturday.  Sunday was the first time we were able to get an appointment scheduled.

We could have used some more snow covering the ground, but we managed, and on top of that we had fun doing it.

These last two images are my favorites of them .  They just sparkle and you can see how much they love and care for each other.  It’s pretty obvious they are indeed best friends as well.

I did the editing and sent them a slide show last night.  Today I got the following note from Christy:

Subject:You are a Godsend!!!

THANK YOU so much for being a trooper and battling the cold weather for our engagement pics.  Lance and I were discussing last night how thrilled you must have been yesterday taking our business, hahaha!!  As for the pics…no words can describe how beautiful they are.  We were hoping to get 5 good pics, but there wasn’t one that I absolutely hated.  I am in awe everytime I look at them.  I find myself going to the computer just to look at them, I cannot believe how awesome they are.  I am looking forward to the spring pics as well as the wedding.  Thank you so much again for beign so prompt!!  I will definately recommend you to eveyone!!

Sincerely-
Christy

Now don’t ya just know my heart melted.  I love my what I do!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Vander Veer Ceremony and Golden Leaf Reception!   Photos to appear shortly!

Canvas cover on this 9 x 12 panoramic album that opens to 9 x 24.  Every layout is custom, and the colors are unique to each wedding.    The couple is on their way in to pick up their album, and I am typing as I wait. It is always fun to watch them see it for the very first time.

Studio D will be covering their wedding May 15, 2010.  Vows will be at The Bridge, and the Reception will be at Arsenal Island Heritage Hall.

It’s a small world.  We find that we have all sorts of friends in common!  I am excited to cover this wedding day! More to follow with engagement session photos soon.

This is a photo of my mom taken just a few short months before I lost her to leukemia.  I was not the one who took it, nor was I at the event where it was taken.  I of course cherish the image because it is my mom, and I love her. There are very few of us together in her last year.  Oh, I have them locked in my memories, and I can view them there.  BUT I can’t share them except by talking about the memory associated with them.  When I am gone they go with me…lost forever.

Instead of my image of my mother in the shot by herself  let’s look at how images become so important to us.  I’ve borrowed a few from one of favorite brides’ weddings.

These are just a few images to illustrate a point. We like to remind a lot of parents who are reluctant to be photographed for a variety of reasons to get in the shot.  Your family loves you just the way you are.  You may hate photos of yourself, but when you avoid the camera…… you are denying them the capturing of memories that will live on way past the time you have with them.

Go ahead….be yourself in front of the camera.  So what if you are a little bit overweight, bald, skinny, nose too big, etc. etc.   Guess what?  You only look like 90% of the rest of the world.  The beautiful ones are about 10% of the world’s population, and with software skills of today they often are made to look more beautiful than they really are.  BE YOU!  You are loved exactly like you are.

Intimate photography has more to offer than nudity.  In fact nudity is not at all what it is about.  It is about seeing you at your very best and capturing the images.  The session only reveals as much as you wish.

A session may be about you in a beautiful gown - think elegant evening out.   It can be about you and your curves  all the while never revealing you completely nude.  A man’s white shirt is another good look for an intimate session.

Our sessions are planned in advance.  Your goals for the shoot and it’s outcome are the first priority.  Location, props, and clothing are next.  Then it is one outfit per 20 minutes.  We offer sessions of 20 minutes, 1 hour, and two hours.  You need to come wth hair and makeup done.    There are a number of good stylists and makeup artists in our area.  We will be happy to make suggestions if you need help deciding.

We can work in the studio, on location we agree on, or your home.

Shoots can have themes, concepts, and are as varied as the individuals doing them.  Any age over 21 is welcome, and we will ask to see photo identification if you look way younger than your age.  You will be asked to sign a model release.  In that release you have several options.   Do not show my images, you may show my images but not my face, you may only show images I approve, you may show my face.  Your wishes are always our guidelines for service.

We have done intimate books for grooms where they are either his groom’s gift from the bride or they are found by him on his pillow the wedding or honeymoon night.   Portraits anywhere from 11×14 up to 40×60 fine art prints or canvases, albums of all sizes.  We have an extensive menu.

Perhaps all you want is a version of you that has been enhanced by a beautiful hair style, skillfully applied makeup, and a portrait that is only slightly provocative?   We can do that.  Perhaps you want a session FOR HIS EYES ONLY?  We can do that.  Perhaps you don’t know what you want?  We can help lead you to a session that will amaze and surprise you about how beautiful you are.

Studio D is offering 50% off shoot fees for the remainder of February and through the month of March.

Ok!  In this household…

Coco

and yours truly all like peanut butter.  We do not need bread……..just peanut butter.   We like Skippy Creamy. We hate chunky, and reduced fat is a NO NO.

Our jars are running low.  “They” say its safe to buy peanut butter in the jar.  Hmmm.  Life is NOT good when one’s peanut butter is threatened.

Just a fun little afternoon shoot session.  Sip a little champagne.  Laugh a little.  Intimate photography always has the individual expressing to me how nervous they were before and how easy it turned out to be.  Today’s mystery lady thought every woman should do it  so they could feel good about their bodies.  She is all set to do a second shoot.

Sorry guys……that is all our Lady of Mystery is willing to make public.  The rest are for her eyes only.
