month: May 2010

Just so you know I open Christmas packages early too.  Waitin’ is not in my vocab!

Ok! Going back to editing!

Drew and Kristy are the kind of couple when they walk in you want to stop what you are doing and just sit down with them for a really warm fuzzy funny sharing visit.  I can’t help but smile when I see them coming!

Yesterday I got to meet the rest of the family.  Jack and Ellie.  Jack hanging out of the frame is appropriate for him.  The boy has one speed…….full steam ahead pushing the envelope!

Drew just melts when Kristy speaks, touches him, or she comes into his field of vision.  His sentences just fade away before completion.  His smile gets bigger, and his eyes light up!  Best part is his voice lowers and softens.  It is totally adorable.   AND  I bet he denies it when he reads this.  He’s a little bit shy!! :)

One of the lines I use during my interview is, “A couple is unique, and they fit together like two pieces of a puzzle.”  Look at Kristy and Drew…….perfect fit!!

Love you guys!   Did a few images while waiting for the wedding to download!!  Rest will be ready soon!

couple more for you :)

Everyone kept saying there were 35 people in the wedding party.  I have 36 here. :)  Not sure if we found one from another wedding or what.  What do you do with 36 people for a quick group shot?  Plant them in a flower bed.  What else?

Hi, guys!!  7pm Friday before the next wedding.  I’ve been editing like crazy, and yours is just burning to the first DVD of two.  I thank you so much you have been quiet about seeing them, because I know you are like every other couple……….let us see the pics!!

I have 3 of you to go to online galleries!  I will start the uploads in a few!!   Plan on coming in first part of next week.  Give me a call!

Here’s a couple for a sneak peek!

In today’s world with Facebook, Twitter, websites, and a prolific amount of digital images abounding a la cell phone so often the images are poor quality.  Most men will shrug it off and forget it shortly after seeing a crappy image of themselves.  Women answer to a different standard.  So it is with my friend!

She is an amazing beautiful woman, wife, mother, and business owner.  Tita’s Linens By Claudia.  I have been bugging her for some time there were no pictures of Claudia on her site or in her advertising!  Yesterday I had my chance to remedy that.

This isn’t the portrait that will be chosen for her advertising nor her website.  I am waiting for the files to upload, but I snagged a couple while waiting.

Claudia………… wonderful shoot.  Can’t wait to see all of them and create the ad!

Elsa in prayer presenting Mary with flowers. For me it is a meaningful image because of the reason Elsa stands there with bowed head.  There are beautiful images, but this is the ONE for me while I prepare their images for them.  For sure this one will make the album.

Elsa and Benjamin adore each other.   All of our hearts melt when anyone looks at us like Elsa is looking at Ben!

The dessert table was created by the talented Robin of LeCake!  I’m told they were all more delicious than the one before!

Florals were created by the very talented Damian of Milan Florist.

Linens and Event Coordination were by Tita’s Linens by Claudia!!  Not a single detail escaped Claudia!

Erin Kay Seddon did the bride and her attendant’s makeup. Hair was done by Five Star Salon. The Wedding Stringers provided chamber violin music during cocktail hour. Juan Carlos DJ’d.    I’m told the night did not end until 2:00am.  Jerry Bergheger of Atlante and Omelia’s prepared both the evening’s food but also prepared breakfast the next morning.

Edited to add:  Amazing how my brain does NOT work sometimes.   Our Lady of Lourdes for the ceremony and The Renwick Mansion for the reception. Alan my love I forgot to mention you did videography… sorry!! There are not images posted…..Elsa designs fabulous jewelry worn by all the wedding party ladies!!

Father Tim I forgot you as well……see you in 4 weeks for Kevin’s wedding…….will apologize in person :)

Images in this post captured by Kevin Walker of Walker Productions and 2nd shooter Scott for Studio D.

Alux Restaurant and Lounge in Playa del Carmen.   The food is excellent, the ambiance is seductively dark with jewel tones of light splashes, and you must ask for Alex.

2 people or 120……… you will have a wonderful time!   I will let their website images show you around.  Enjoy the menu.

This was a trip almost 3 years in the planning.  The fun part about Apple Tours is they can be planned, a deposit made, and the balance paid in full 30 days before departure.  Second factor is I happen to like “all-inclusive” vacations.  Long story short…it was planned for us to leave last November, but for health reasons we needed to postpone indefinitely.  Talk about a major disappointment.

Gulliver’s Travel in Duck Creek Plaza and Margie saved the day making it easy to cancel, and then get us all set up for the April departure.   Margie has handled several trips for me, and I won’t use anyone else!  She’s the best.

So!  Before May and the crazy part of the wedding season begins for Studio D, I packed my swimsuit, turned off my cell phone, left the laptop home and headed for Mexico and the Riu Palace Mexico for seven glorious days of hot and very high humidity.

As promised to a couple of friends……photos would be forthcoming.   There are a stack of things waiting for me to do them, so these two are just a down payment.  For the most part I avoided people shots and set myself a personal project of shooting shadows and lines.  I love wedding photography, but beyond my little assignment I wanted to take one camera and one lens…….no lugging all the equipment.  It was really fun to play tourist with a camera for a change…….ok………no point and shoot……….but still for me……bare bones.

I had to play paparazzi to get these shots.  They had their own cameraman posing tourists with them for $$$.   I quickly grabbed the shots and cropped out the tourist with each :).  The Mayan costuming is superb.
